Projects and GitHub

Create folders, clone repositories, and connect GitHub.

A project is a folder for your code. Every project lives in /workspace/projects inside Horus. When you tap an agent, the Choose project screen lets you pick one or make a new one. There are three ways to get a project.

1. Create an empty folder

Under Create a local folder, type a name and tap Create. Use a short name made of letters, numbers, dots, dashes or underscores, like my-app. This is the way to start something new from scratch.

2. Clone from a Git URL

Under Clone from a Git URL, paste the address of any Git repository and tap Clone. It works with HTTPS addresses (https://github.com/org/repo) and SSH addresses (git@github.com:org/repo.git).

3. Pick one of your GitHub repositories

Once you connect GitHub, the GitHub section lists repositories you own, collaborate on, or can access through an organization. Tap Clone ↓ next to one. Public repositories can also be cloned by URL without signing in.

Connect GitHub

Horus uses GitHub's official command-line tool, gh, to sign in. You never type your GitHub password into Horus.

  1. Tap Log in to GitHub

It's at the top of the home screen, or tap Connect GitHub on the Choose project screen. A terminal opens and gh asks a few questions.

  2. Answer the questions

Use the arrow keys on the key bar to choose, and RETURN to confirm. If you're unsure, pick GitHub.com, HTTPS, and log in with a web browser.

  3. Note the one-time code

gh shows a short code like ABCD-1234. Remember it. Horus opens GitHub's device login page in your browser.

  4. Enter the code on GitHub

Type the code on the GitHub page and approve access. Then switch back to Horus. Your account shows on the home screen, and your repositories appear on the Choose project screen.

To sign out, tap your account on the home screen and choose LOG OUT OF GITHUB.

Saving your work to GitHub

Agents can commit and push for you, so you can just ask: "commit this and push it". To do it yourself, open Bare terminal and run:

Horus terminal
cd /workspace/projects/my-app
git add -A
git commit -m "Describe what you changed"
git push
